220 Wool

220 Wool by Cascade yarns is made from 100% pure wool and is probably one of the most popular yarns on the market for a number of reasons. Hopefully we will be able to give you more information about this yarn so that you can understand why so many people love it.

Cascade 220 Wool

Yarn consistency

Cascade 220 Wool is a tightly wound 100% Pure Wool that is made in Peru and really is a winner on so many levels. Probably one of the best things about Cascade 220 Wool is that it comes in over 150 colours and so there is always something to choose from. The hardest thing when picking this wool is deciding the colours you want to go for.

Among the knitting community it is probably the most widely used largely down to its flexibility and consistency. For a pure wool yarn it is a great price coming in at less than £6 for 100g making it great value for money. It also sits nicely between a double knit and aran weight yarn making Cascade 220 Wool one of the most versatile on the market. One thing to say is that it is a hand wash yarn but this has some advantages not least the fact it is probably one of the best available yarns that can be used for felting. You will literally be able to find hundreds or thousands of felting patterns that recommend Cascade 220 Wool. So the next time you want to make a bag this is the yarn to go for.

Knitting with Cascade 220 Wool

So we know this is a popular yarn and that it has many uses but what is it like to knit with? Well the answer to that is fantastic. That is probably the reason for 220 Wool being so popular. As mentioned above it is very tightly wound this means you do not have to deal with the yarn splitting and you will find any project moves on very quickly with Cascade 220 Wool. This is not just our opinion but we have also discussed it with many of our customers who have used it and they all love it and would recommend it.

One thing worth mentioning is that Cascade 220 Wool is not a luxury yarn however it is a high quality natural fibre yarn that represents great value for money. So if you are on a budget then this yarn cannot be recommended more highly. It is pure wool and as far as pure wool goes Cascade 220 Wool is one of the best, it is not too rough and causes less irritation than many pure wool yarns.

Just a little bit on the thickness, Cascade 220 Wool is an American yarn and so is a worsted weight which means it is 20sts to 10cm/4in on 4.5mm/US 7 needles. The great thing about this if you are English is you could use it for either a DK pattern or an Aran pattern meaning you really can get a lot of use out of it. I would say thought that I think it lends itself more to Aran knitting than DK but the choice is yours.

Conclusion

Cascade 220 Wool is a high quality yarn for a great price. If you have never tried it then you may want to because once you have we are sure you will love it. If you use Cascade 220 Wool then we would love to know what you think and you can leave us your comments on the Cascade 220 Wool product page.
