Debbie Bliss Como
Debbie Bliss Como is a super chunky yarn that comes in a great range of different colours. The questions I am sure you all want answered is what is Como like to knit with and how does it feel. This article will hopefully go some way to answering these questions for you.
Yarn consistency
Debbie Bliss Como is an extremely soft yarn that is made from 90% merino wool and 10% cashmere. It is a slightly felted yarn and is super chunky, this means that each of the balls are very short and only 42m. The major disadvantage with this fact is that you will need a lot of yarn to make a garment. As the cost of this yarn is £5.95 per ball it could make it cost prohibitive having said that it is quality and worth the investment.
Knitting with Debbie Bliss Como
The Debbie Bliss Como yarn is a super chunky yarn that is worked mostly on 10mm needles making it a very quick knit. What is it like to knit with? Well on the whole I would say it is quite a good yarn but not the best I have ever used. The choice of colours make it one of the best looking yarns on the market but when I worked with it I found it peeled a lot. That was not to say I did not like the result but if anything I would say I was a little bit disappointed with the result considering the expected quality.
Debbie Bliss has decided to discontinue this yarn and this may be down to the quality of it or it could be due to the fact production costs went up which would put the price too high. We cannot be sure about the reason but we know it is going. The good thing about this is that it means we are able to offer this yarn at a reduced price making it a bit more affordable. If you have liked the look of this yarn and it is a good yarn then the new price may make it a little bit more appealing. However it is also worth telling you that Debbie Bliss is bringing out a new yarn called Paloma to replace Como and this could be a real revelation and I for one cannot wait to try it!
Conclusion
Debbie Bliss Como is a good yarn but maybe not quite as good as the original price would suggest. However with the new reduced price you might want to snap some up before it is all gone. If you have used this yarn and either agree or disagree with me then we would love to now your thoughts. You can either leave your comments below or on the Debbie Bliss Como Page.
